Tanzania Equity Watch | 30 June 2015: Tanzania equity market drops TSZ 641 billion and indices fall
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- Tanzanian stock markets continued on bearish path. The market capitalization further lost TZS 641 billion to end at TZS 23,865 billion relative to TZS 24,506 recorded at yesterday’s trading session.
The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSEI) fell by 2.60 points or 72.82 percent to close at 2,726.77 points. Also, the domestic Share Index plunged by 12.54 points or 0.27 percent to close at 4,684.09 points. Likewise, Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) sector index fell by 0.81 percent and Industrial & Allied sector index lost 0.07 percent. However, Commercial Services sector index remained flat to close at 4,016.07 points.
From the market activity angle, a total turnover of TZS 373.00 million from 667,975 shares traded in 85 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 136.73 million from 43,988 shares traded in 29 deals. CRDB had 658,130 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 400 per share in 53 deals. DCB Commercial Bank had 30 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 680 per share in 1 deal. Tanzania Breweries Limited had 7,173 shares traded at weighted average price of TZS 14,500 per share in 22 deals.
The market sentiment was negative today, with 10 losers and zero gainers. UCHUMI Supermarket Limited lost 10.00 percent with a closing price of TZS 180.00 and News Media Group fell by 8.44 percent to end at TZS 3,690.00. Equally, ACACIA MINING Limited and Jubilee Holding Limited tumbled by 5.23 percent and 4.58 percent to close at TZS 9,600 and TZS 11,470 respectively.
Still on the losers, East African Breweries Limited plunged by 3.40 percent to close at TSZ 6,250 and KCB Group Limited went down 3.39 percent to close at TSZ 1,140.00. Likewise, CRDB fell by 2.44 percent to settle at TSZ 400.00 and TCCL tumbled by 0.26 percent to conclude at TSZ 3,810.
